The Importance of Acknowledging Unavailable Data
As the BADBIR data is monitored remotely by our office administrators any questions which are left blank or unanswered will need clarification. It will not be clear if the question is blank due to the data not being available or that it is blank because of a possible data entry oversight.
It is therefore important that any items of unavailable/missing data are acknowledged in the feedback/comments section of the database. This can be as simple as typing 'patient waist size was not recorded' or 'patient follow-up questionnaire was not completed'. As all follow-ups are reviewed by BADBIR administrators, we will send out data queries for any outstanding information that we cannot account for. Entering feedback in this way will avoid any queries as it informs us that the data was unavailabe rather than missed from the data entry.
